Serving Better Wings...

After years of trial and error we have finally identified one of THE most-important ingredients (which some restaurants completely ignore) that make chicken wings taste better every time. Seriously.

Through several hundred case studies, we've been able to factually conclude something that we already knew. It doesn't matter the flavor or cooking style, when added this (secret) ingredient is always present at the very best restaurants around the world.

It isn't available in liquid form and its doesn't really qualify as a spice or an herb or even a dry rub. Oh, and guess what? It's FREE. So what is it then?

Gratitude.

Some places serve it by the buckets full, some sprinkle it on, and some sadly don't use it at all.

Years ago, I wrote a national best-selling book entitled, "Appreciation Marketing; How to Achieve Greatness Through Gratitude." In the book I revealed that the NUMBER ONE reason why customers complain and/or leave you entirely, is "perceived indifference." That's a fancy term for they don't think you care.

Now, to be fair, I'm sure there isn't a business on the planet that doesn't care. But many business and restaurant owners care about the wrong things. They all care about the profit margin. But how many care about the people?

The very best of the best understand that it always starts with the people. Take care of your employees and they'll remain loyal. Make your customers feel special and appreciated; they'll keep coming back. Oh, and they'll fight to convince people that YOU have the best wings on the planet!

We've met some of the absolute most-amazing restaurant owners during our Wingaddicts adventures over the years. And we've met some that just don't seem to care. Believe it or not, we've even done video episodes at restaurants where we didn't even meet (or ever get a thank you) from the owners. Even at some of the more-famous spots.

We're all human beings (first and foremost) and if there's one super power that every single one of us possesses it's that we're all professional consumers! We always consider the overall "experience" (even if only subconsciously)  when it comes to our opinions on restaurants. And we factor those things into our decisions on whether we liked the food and/or whether or not to return ever again.

This isn't meant to be a "holier than thou" blog post in any way. It's a simple observation. I can't count the number of times that we've been driving home, looked at each other and said "These guys get it." And conversly - though Wingaddicts isn't (and was never) about rating restaurants' wings - we've also noticed that when certain places lack that key ingredient  we drive home thinking the wings didn't really taste all that great after all.

I can see all you Wingaddicts nodding your heads out there as you read this. So, maybe this blog is more for the restaurant owners. Not that it matters. Asking a business owner to be more grateful is like asking your puppy not to poop on the rug. They either get it or they don't. We salute those of you who do! You know who you are!

I'll just leave you with this quote from Maya Angelou that sums it up perfectly:

"People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget the way you made them feel." And especially if you added that ingredient to your wings! (That last part was me!)
